Hub Cap Annie | Nancy Utley

How It All Started

What started as a hobby for Nancy Utley—affectionately known as Hub Cap Annie—grew into one of America’s great small business success stories. Nancy’s fascination with hubcaps began when her husband, George Utley, a retired Memphis police captain, brought home hubcaps left behind by pothole victims. Turning forgotten hubcaps into decorative art sparked her entrepreneurial spirit. In 1977, she opened the first Hub Cap Annie store, offering affordable, high-quality hubcaps as an alternative to overpriced dealership options. Within months, the business expanded, and Hub Cap Annie became a household name, with stores across 16 states and features in People Magazine and Real People.

Our journey continued in the Treasure Valley in 1996, where we began refinishing wheels and hubcaps for local customers. After several moves, we settled into our permanent location in Garden City, where we expanded our services to include powder coating wheels and small parts.

In 2023, we met Nick Bowcutt, whose artistry, craftsmanship, and work ethic inspired us to take our services to the next level. By 2024, Nick joined forces with us to lead our custom division, which we now proudly call Annie’s Custom Coatings.

Though we’ve evolved into a full-service custom coating and wheel refinishing shop, our roots remain deeply tied to Nancy’s original vision: finding a need and filling it. With decades of experience, a talented team, and a passion for innovation, we continue to push the limits of what’s possible—all while honoring the legacy that started it all.

Come grow with us and be part of our story!
